FEI TUKE and FIIT STU Launch Slovakia’s First Joint Master’s Program in Artificial Intelligence
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at the Technical University of Košice (FEI TUKE) and the Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (FIIT STU) have opened applications for a new joint Master’s degree program in Artificial Intelligence.
This is the first program of its kind in Slovakia, taught entirely in English and developed in collaboration with NVIDIA.
The program integrates computer science, electrical engineering, and advanced AI methodologies into a unified, application-oriented curriculum. It places strong emphasis on the practical use of knowledge in both industry and research. It is designed for graduates holding a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical fields from around the world.
Graduates will gain interdisciplinary expertise, hands-on experience, and direct exposure to industry practice. Upon successful completion, students will receive diplomas from both institutions, forming a unique double degree model—the first of its kind in Slovakia. The program also provides a strong foundation for careers in the international job market or for continuing to PhD studies.
“This program represents a unique connection between the top academic environments of Slovakia’s two largest technical universities and a global technology leader in artificial intelligence. Our goal is to prepare graduates who will not only use AI, but also create new AI solutions.” Martin Chovanec, Vice-Dean, FEI TUKE
Collaboration with NVIDIA
The program has been developed in close cooperation with NVIDIA, a global leader in artificial intelligence. Students will gain access to cutting-edge technological platforms, high-performance computing resources, and up-to-date know-how from the global AI ecosystem.
FIIT STU contributes strong expertise in software engineering and intelligent systems, while FEI TUKE excels in applied AI research, particularly in medicine and autonomous mobility.
“The joint program of FEI TUKE and FIIT STU significantly strengthens the internationalization of higher education in Slovakia and creates opportunities to attract top talent from abroad.” Lukáš Šoltés, Vice-Dean, FIIT STU
Support from the Ministry of Education
The program has been actively supported by the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic. Internationalization and the expansion of English-taught programs are key criteria in global university rankings. This initiative brings TUKE and STU closer to their ambition of becoming internationally recognized institutions.
“This new AI-focused study program proves that Slovak universities can offer modern education comparable to leading international institutions. English-language instruction, strong links to practice, and the double degree model make this program highly attractive for talented students from Slovakia and abroad.” Tomáš Drucker, Minister of Education of the Slovak Republic
“Slovakia needs to prepare a new generation of professionals who will not only work with artificial intelligence but actively develop it. I appreciate the collaboration between TUKE and STU, which combines their capacities with a global technology leader to create a modern international study program with high added value for our country.” Róbert Zsembera, State Secretary for Higher Education and Academic Research.
